From October 20th to 22nd, the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026 took place at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Organised by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the summit brought together leaders in longevity and precision medicine, health system resilience, digital health and AI, and life sciences investment.

The AIM Lab exhibited at the NYU Abu Dhabi booth with two live demonstrations, alongside Prof. Mohamad Eid, director of the AIM Lab.

Salma Mansour demonstrated the lab’s EEG-controlled supernumerary robotic finger: a wearable extra robotic finger driven by a brain-computer interface, which lets a user command the additional digit with their EEG (brain) signals.

Pi Ko demonstrated the lab’s haptic-enhanced Virtual Reality Local Anesthesia (VRLA) simulator, developed with collaborators at NYU in New York for training the inferior alveolar nerve block. Trainees practice the injection in VR while feeling realistic force feedback, as an alternative to plastic-manikin training.

We were also delighted that the demo was featured on NYU Abu Dhabi’s official Instagram:

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth, and congratulations to Salma and the team on a successful showcase!
