Wanjoo Park
Ph.D., Research Scientist
Wanjoo Park has been working as a Research Scientist at New York University Abu Dhabi since February 2023. He joined the Engineering Division, New York University Abu Dhabi as a Post-Doctoral Associate in April 2017. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Brain and Cognitive Engineering Department, Korea University, Seoul, Republic of Korea in 2016. He had research experiment in Korea Institute of Science of Technology (KIST) from December 2008 to March 2017 as a researcher. His current research is focused on the neural signal processing of non-invasively recorded brain signals for cognitive neural engineering research. His research interests include Haptics, Human-Computer Interaction, Brain-Computer Interface, Neuro-Rehabilitation and Internet Gaming Addiction.
Haneen Alsuradi
Ph.D., Associate Research Scientist
Haneen completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. Her PhD research focused on developing a machine learning based neurocognitive framework to evaluate the experience of haptic delay. Haneen received her BSc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from University of Sharjah and MSc in Micro-systems Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, UAE. She has worked previously as a Design/Layout Engineer for VLSI circuits at Golden Electronics in Amman, Jordan. She has experience in circuit design and printed wearable electronics. Her research area is focused on neural signal processing, psycho-physics of touch and machine learning.

George Korres
Senior Research Engineer
George Korres was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He studied Applied Mathematics in the School of Science & Engineering at the University of Crete. He was involved for several years with the development of educational software and hardware regarding educational robotics. The last three years he have also dealt with industrial automation (mainly in the field of recycling industry).
His research interests focus on development of new sensors and actuators as well as the use of these in human computer interaction.
Pi Ko
Junior Research Scientist
Pi is a Junior Research Scientist at the Applied Interactive Media (AIM) Lab, specializing in software development, Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality applications, and Computer Graphics. His academic background includes expertise in Deep Learning, Robotics, and Computer Vision, with publications available on Google Scholar. Pi’s industry experience spans Full Stack Web Development, Cross-Platform (iOS/Android/PC) Software Development, Internal Tools, and Educational Games, which can be explored further on his personal site and GitHub profile. He holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from New York University Abu Dhabi. Currently, his research focuses on rehabilitation and affective haptics.

Muhammad Hassan Jamil
Instructor of Engineering
Muhammad Hassan Jamil received his BSc. Computer Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan and MS in Computer Science from National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan. He has worked previously as a Design Engineer at Open-Silicon Inc. He has also worked on design and development of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality experiences and applications in private sector organizations.
His research interests focus on design and development of immersive haptic feedback systems.
Said Chehabeddine
Research Engineer
Said Chehabeddine is a Robotics Engineering student at the University of Toronto who has taken a year off (2018-2019) to work at NYUAD; he has worked on several projects involving Artificial Intelligence and developing Virtual Reality and Haptics simulations.
His research interests focus on the development of embodied simulations with haptic interactions.
George Karafotias
Research Assistant
George Karafotias received his B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (N.T.U.A), M.S. in Computer Science (N.T.U.A) and M.S. in Marine Technology (N.T.U.A). Has worked as an Electrical Engineer and IT Manager in the public sector and as Software Engineer and 3-D Software Developer in the private sector.
His research interests focus on Virtual Reality and 3-D Educational (Serious) Games.
Akiko Teranishi
Research Assistant
Akiko Teranishi was born in Fukuoka, Japan. She received a B.S. in Cognitive Science specialized in Human Computer Interaction from University of California San Diego, and a M.S. in Human System Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology. She was involved in a motor company as a vehicle packaging and cockpit module engineer for over eight years.
Her research interests focus on Human Computer Interaction using Haptics.
